We have had another very successful Charity Golf Competition at Haddington Golf Course raising over £5500 for our charity work.
The teams of 4 competed mainly in the dry (there was an hour of rain during the day) and using the stableford scoring system the results proved to be a close run thing. In first place were The Muskateers on 94 points. They were Gordon Blackie, Ronnie Sharp, David Sharp and Stan Cunningham. Three of the team are shown in the heading picture along with President Ian Samson left and Ross Prentice centre.
Second were Vauxhall Victors on 91 points and there was a 3 way tie for third place on 90 points which could only be split by a countback of the scores for the inward 9 holes. Third eventually went to Rossco.
The competition is open to all golfers with a national handicap and is an annual fixture in our May calendar.
The prizes were presented by our main sponsor Ross Prentice of Prentice Coaches Ltd who are celebrating 25 years in business this year. Edinburgh Risk Management sponsored the prizes for nearest the pin and Allan McDougall Solicitors and Estate Agents were the charities sponsor. Tustain Motors put up a hole in one prize of a car at the short 14th hole (unfortunately there was no winner).
Short Hole 17 featured a special event for Scottish Huntingdon’s Association where the golfer placed a £5 “bet” and if they landed their drive on the green got £10 back. In practice even the “winners” left their money in the pot and over the competition nearly £500 was raised for that charity.
Here are some photos from the competition.
