Over the years, Haddington Rotary Club has continued to support individuals and worthy causes locally, nationally and internationally.
In the local community the Club continues to support a wide spectrum of activities. In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Edinburgh, a highlight of our year is participation in a KidsOut Day for children with special needs.

Help also is given to clients of The Day Centre throughout the year and at their Christmas festivities.

Currently, we provide assistance at events such as the East Fortune Airshow, the Haddington Agricultural Show and the East Lothian Triathlon.

Financial assistance is provided to many individuals who travel abroad for humanitarian work and every year the club is involved in fundraising for many national charities.

The Club participates in a large range of youth activities including competitions for Young Chef, Young Golfer, Young Musician, Young Photographer, Challenge Enterprise, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and has a Young Person of the Year Award.

Fundraising for international emergencies has continued throughout the Club’s history. Notable efforts in recent years have been large contributions for the purchase of Shelterboxes and Waterboxes for victims of the Asian Tsunami, the Haiti Earthquake, the Pakistan Flood Disaster and the 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.

The Club continues to participate in Rotary International’s goal to eradicate polio which remains endemic in some of Africa, India and Pakistan.  In 2011 our Christmas skating event raised £10,000 which was topped up by a further £15,000 from The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Over the years Haddington Rotary Club has received many awards, including a Membership Development and Extension Award and, in 2009/10, a Presidential Citation from RI President John Kenny for strengthening Rotary’s future through exemplary action and service.

With the basis of Rotary being friendship, the Club has a wide range of social activities and enjoys collaboration with other clubs.
The Rotary Club of Haddington has a long and creditable history and, in common with Rotarians worldwide, looks forward to many more years of “Service above Self”.
